Working Demo Version Download Information:
The Working Demo Version of CADWorx/P&ID is only available for AutoCAD R14, and AutoCAD 2000 for Windows 95/98/NT 4.00/2000.  The demo version is a fully functional version of CADWorx/P&ID Version 3.1. There are two limitations to the demo version: Only 35 components can be drawn; AutoCAD Save command is disabled.

Latest AutoCAD Capabilities CADWorx/P&ID developers started with a lot of experience, an open mind and a clean sheet of paper. Unlike older P&ID packages which are too unwieldy to take advantage of recent programming innovations, CADWorx/P&ID looks forward. It establishes a new benchmark not only in look and feel of the program itself, but also in the opportunities inherent in its associated systems. CADWorx/P&ID does not redefine commands for AutoCAD. Instead, it monitors the AutoCAD commands with ObjectARX technologies from Autodesk. These features allow you to maintain database accuracy and exact synchronism with the drawings. CADWorx/P&ID also conforms to the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) standard within the Windows environment. This allows you to maintain databases that are in "DBF" or Microsoft Access formats. Fast Start Up Installing CADWorx/P&ID is fast and easy. The installation procedure automatically associates itself with AutoCAD and creates all the groups and icons required to get you up and running immediately. You can start a new drawing or project with just a few selections from the pre-designed dialog boxes. For a P&ID without database management, just select a "drawing with no database" from the convenient dialog and begin drawing. If you require multiple P&ID's with a central database management system, just set up a new project and begin drawing.

Three Levels of Operation
Levels
Level 1: For stand-alone operation, Level 1 allows you to generate P&ID's without an associated database. This level is useful for basic drafting of projects where data management is unnecessary. Level 1 provides conventional blocks with attributes you can edit and control, and blocks can be added with ease to match any user requirements. It is a simple solution for a simple system.
Level 2: If you wish to attach other documentation to a single P&ID, Level 2 is the answer. This level allows you to maintain complete documentation, structure the database just the way you want it and then store it internally within the drawing. Later, when the drawing is retrieved, the database recreates itself to provide you with all the information attached to the single P&ID.
Level 3: If you need to manage projects where several designers and staff from different disciplines work on the same data, Level 3 is your solution. CADWorx/P&ID can match any data management requirement. Here, database resources can be entered or updated at any station. This level provides the utmost in process data and document control within your P&ID's. It sets up a central relational database that provides the designer or process engineer a central location to change or maintain the complete process. Information changed in the database will automatically be updated in the drawings while information changed in the drawings will automatically be updated in the database. Whether it is used to draw P&ID's, update a process design, manage inventory or requisition material, CADWorx/P&ID offers the connectivity to keep these tasks in constant harmony.

Time Saving Automation

CADWorx/P&ID offers a complete set of utilities and other automated features which make drawing and database management fast, simple and accurate.

• Configure drawing settings all from one dialog

• Control layers for symbol placement.

• Setup drawing borders.

• All configuration parameters can be saved/restored to a configuration file. Allows the use of multiple configuration files.

• Tag components and equipment for easy annotation purposes. Edit and annotate the drawing at your convenience - not necessarily while placing a component

• Edit symbols to match any user requirement

• Control the process flow when using databases

• View all nozzles that are attached to a vessel

• Attach documents to all components.

Comprehensive Symbols Libraries

CADWorx/P&ID includes symbols for every need to create drawings right out of the box. These include:

• Equipment symbols for vessels, storage tanks, nozzles, exchangers, pumps, separators, and compressors

Equipment Toolbar

• Valve symbols such as gate, ball, 3-way and 4-way

Easy, Flexible Menu Modifications CADWorx/P&ID provides dialogs for modifying or creating custom menus for any user requirement. Using a menu manager, it allows user-configurable symbol management for adding or deleting symbols at will. Any number of user defined symbols can be added, and symbols can include internal information - a single entity or multiple entities combined in an assembly – for use with or without databases.
Menu Maintaince Dialog Start

• The first dialog that appears allows the use to edit a specific section. Each section is tied to a button on the toolbar. For example, the Valves Regular section modifies the functionality of the valves toolbar buttons.
Menu Maintaince Dialog

• After selecting a section, the user would select an item to edit. For example, the Gate Valve entry is being edited in the dialog below. With the Menu Edit dialog, numerous things about the menu entry can be changed including the block name, size, layer, and table.
Menu Maintaince Edit Dialog
• CADWorx/P&ID provides nine custom symbol insertion routines that allow the user to insert any type of symbol.

Dynamic Database Fields While other programs provide a fixed set of fields within their data-bases, CADWorx/P&ID provides a dynamic solution. From the very start of a new project, CADWorx/P&ID allows you to create and select the number of fields required within your database. For example, Client A needs four data fields associated with the Vessel tables and Client B needs 20. When you start the project, simply press the "Table Setup" button for a handy dialog box. Then, just add, delete or edit any of the fields required within your project's relational database. When you start your project, CADWorx/P&ID creates the database fields automatically just the way you require them.

Displayable Attributes Always In Synch Attributes are not new to AutoCAD users, but they are used effectively in CADWorx/P&ID. An attribute is combined with a block to form an editable entity within AutoCAD just as before. The COADE developers decided to use the best of the new and old together. CADWorx/P&ID combines these familiar attributes with blocks that automatically associate themselves with the database. If you name an attribute in the drawing using the same name as in the database table column, the drawing will automatically update itself when the database is changed. If the drawing is changed, then the database will change. This ensures the drawing and database are always synchronized. What distinguishes CADWorx/P&ID from other programs is its levels of information access. Whether it's a single P&ID drawing or a total shared project environment, drawing information can be maintained in database records. All parties can share and modify data from the standard AutoCAD drawing or from standard database records and tables. The database and drawing(s) are always synchronized.
