The following MT-MECH modules have been revised:
One of the most relevant implementation is related to the implementation of Tubesheets calculations according to ASME Section UHX that became mandatory (replacing the correspondent TEMA normes) since the beginning of the current year 2005.

  • 2.AD-MERKBLATT Code. The allowable stress calculation for non ferrous materials under AD-MERKBLATT code has been added
    3.Formed Heads. The calculation according to ISPESL-VSR of elliptical and torispherical heads with nozzles outside the 80% of the diameter has been added to the program.
    4.Bolts. The bolts table TEMA D-5M has been added to the bolts database.
    5.Flanged Flat Heads. The calculation of the flanged flat head has been fixed. The program went in loop when the hydraulic test pressure was the controlling condition.
    6.Nozzles. The analysis of adjacent nozzles has been added to the program. The nozzle subprogram has been completely revised giving the possibility of specifying until four nozzles on the same base component.
    Note : Because of the deep revision, all the nozzles calculations processed with the previous program versions after June 30, 2004 must be reentered manually. The calculations processed before June 30, 2004 are read by the program and automatically converted to the new version.
    7.Tubesheets. The check of TEMA RCB-2.5 related to the tube pitch in the tubesheet calculation has been added.
    8.Formed Heads. The values of the table VSR.1.E.3 related to the formed head have been corrected according to the Errata Corrige of 31/03/2003.
    9.Formed Heads/Conical Sections.The thickness tolerance has been added in the calculation to the external pressure of the formed heads and conical sections according to ASME.
    10.Nozzles.The possibility to specify from input the nozzles reinforcing limits along the wall and along the pipe has been added to the program. When these values are specified, the program will assume the least value between the given value and the value calculated according to the code.
    11.Nozzles.A bug in the analysis of adjacent nozzles related to the specification of a negative offset has been fixed.
    12.Pipes.The minimum thickness for pipes according to ISPESL-VSR.1.M has been added to the program. This value is applied for pipes diameter of 220 mm and under.
    13.Nozzles. The calculation of the external radiuses of the nozzles (a1, a2) required for the adjacent nozzles analysis according to ISPESL-VSR and AD-MERKBLATT has been modified to take into account for the changing of the radius along the longitudinal and circumferential direction of the nozzle. The values of a are now calculated along the line passing through the center of the nozzles.
    14.Nozzles. Some incongruencies related to the management of the pipe material in the nozzles calculation have been fixed. The discrepancies were due to the "pipe material selection" and the "Maximum Nominal Diameter from pipe".
    15.Nozzles. The nozzle direction has been added to the nozzle input data to be specified as: radial / inclined / offset.This makes easier for the user to specify the nozzle geometry and positioning.
    N.B. The user should revise the input of previous calculation to comply with this new code.
    16.Floating Head. The calculation of the backing ring of the floating head (types 1 and 4) for ISPESL-VSR code has been modified according to TEMA RCB-5.
    17.Nozzles. The nozzle drawing for hillside nozzles (180° orientation) has been fixed.
    18.Input Data. The Idraulic Test Pressure specified in input is now converted using the proper conversion factor.
    19.Nozzles. In the nozzle check performed using the VSR code, a warning message is issued when (d/2*ri) > 0.5. All checks have been revised to be compliant with the rules of VSR 1.k.2.2.
    20.Nozzles. The nozzle calculation for nozzle from pipe at high pressures has been fixed.
    21.Nozzles. The nozzle calculation for not standard nozzles has been fixed.
    22.Nozzles. The check on adiacent nozzles is now performed correctly also in case of non-compensated nozzles with the same heigth and orientation.
    23.Expansion Joint. The elastic constant in the axial direction has been considered in the calculation of the Expansion Joint according to the VSR Code (VSR.1.N.7).
    24.Tubesheet. The tubesheet calculations according to ASME Section UHX have been included in the program features.
    25.Expansion Joint. The thin expansion joint according to ASME App.26 has been included in the program features.

The flange is now designed for all the conditions and then rechecked with the heaviest geometrical shape for all the calculation conditions.
    18.External Pressure - Lining. The calculation to the external pressure for exchangers with lining has been fixed. The lining thickness on shells and heads was not managed correctly.
    19.Output Report. The lining thickness of shells and heads has been added to the output report.
    20.Bolts. The bolts table TEMA D-5M has been added to the bolts database.
    21.Bill Of Materials. The BOM has been fixed. The program crashed for exchangers with nozzles from plate in axis on conical ends.
    22.Conical Channel/Rear End. The calculation of the cylindrical barrel for conical channel and rear end has been fixed.
    23.Drawings.The AUTOCAD script to launch the program has been modified to work with the Italian version of AUTOCAD.
    24.Drawings. The printout of the thickness + lining for shells and heads on the exchanger drawing has been fixed.
    25.Drawings. The possibility of adding the tubesheet layout drawing to the exchanger drawing hs been introduced in the program.
    26.Audit Report. The datasheets writing for conical sections without knuckles related to the hydraulic test pressure has been fixed.
    27.Pipes.The minimum thickness for pipes according to ISPESL-VSR.1.M has been added to the program. This value is applied for pipes diameter of 220 mm and under.
    28.Pipes.Some incongruencies related to the management of the pipe material in the nozzles calculation have been fixed. The discrepancies were due to the "pipe material selection" and the "Maximum Nominal Diameter from pipe".
    29.Baffles.The data related to the baffles can now be imported from the tubesheet layout together with the tubes data.
    30.General Note.The "General Note" item on the drawing input screen has been fixed.
    31.ASME Allowable Stress.The option for the calculation of the ASME allowable stress in test as 90% of the material yield strength at room temperature has been added to the program.
    32.Floating Head.The possibility to force the inside diameter of the floating flange also in design mode has been added to the program.
    33.Floating Head.For the floating flange with backing ring of the type "split ring + spacer" the possibility to select the bolts area multiplying factor as 1.72 or 1 has been added.
    34.Floating Head.The backing ring types 3 and 4 have been added to the "Ring Type" item in the floating head frame. The exchanger drawing has been modified to provide for the new ring types.
    35.Floating Head.The calculation of the backing ring of the floating head (types 1 and 4) for ISPESL-VSR code has been modified according to TEMA RCB-5.
    36.Materials. All ASME materials have been revised to be in agreement with the ASME II Part D Ed. 2004
    37.Materials. The allowable stress calculation for non ferrous materials under AD-MERKBLATT code has been added.
    38.Expansion Joint. The elastic constant in the axial direction has been considered in the calculation of the Expansion Joint according to the VSR Code (VSR.1.N.7).
    39.Expansion Joint. The thin expansion joint according to ASME App.26 has been included in the program features.


    MT-LAYOUT Revision 2.6.0 (January 2005)
    1.Files Handling. The save function has been fixed. Sometime the calculation was not saved correctly. (2.5.1).
    2.Entrance/Exit Area. The calculation of rv2 when the tube count was specified has been fixed.
    3.Baffles. The interpretation of the cut percentage for double segmental baffles has been changed to be congruent with the TEMA nomenclature.
    4.Baffles. The baffles type description has been added to the drawing.
    5.Baffles.The data related to the baffles can now be exported to the exchangers program together with the tubes data.
    6.Tubes Arrangement, The bundle centering on the diameter axis has been fixed for 1 pass tubesheet.
    7.Drawings. The AUTOCAD script to launch the program has been modified to work with the Italian version of AUTOCAD.
    8.Given the Tubecount Option.The calculation of the tubesheet Given the tube count with TEMA tie rods has been fixed.
    When the number of the tie rods really installed was greater than the minimum suggested by TEMA, the number of the tubes calculated by the program resulted lower than the number specified in input

    16.Stability Analysis.The Reference Line height for the calculation of the wind speed on vessel supported by legs has been fixed. There was a difference of the head neck length in the elevations of the single elements for wind speed calculation.
    17.Stability Analysis. The analysis of vibrations generated by the wind according to the method of Kanti K. Mahajan (HP May 1977) has been added to the program.
    18.Units of measure. The unit of the hydraulic test pressure has been fixed.
    19.Audit Report. The datasheet related to the cone ends as line of support has been fixed.
    20.Support Saddles. The material tolerance has been added to the support saddles calculation.
    21.Support Saddles.The saddle angle storing has been fixed. It was always set to 120°.
    22.Output Report. The nozzles welding distance has been added to the results report..
    23.Output Report. The printout of the stiffening rings on the results report has been fixed.
    24.Nozzles.The analysis of adjacent nozzles has been added to the program. The section "ADJACENT NOZZLES SUMMARY" in the output report gives a list of all the possible nozzles combinations with a flag showing if the analysis is satisfied or not.

    38.Audit Report.The presentation of the audit report page has been fixed. The program gaves an overflow runtime error when the monitor resolution was higher than 800x600 and the nozzles combinations were too numerous.
    39.Pipes.The minimum thickness for pipes according to ISPESL-VSR.1.M has been added to the program. This value is applied for pipes diameter of 220 mm and under.
    40.Pipes.Some incongruencies related to the management of the pipe material in the nozzles calculation have been fixed. The discrepancies were due to the "pipe material selection" and the "Maximum Nominal Diameter from pipe".(
    41.Bill of Materials.The stiffening rings required for Zick calculation of the saddles have been added to the B.O.M.
    42.Bill of Materials.The weight of the support legs on the Bill of Material has been fixed.
